Mobile phone takes top spot

“The best camera to use is the one you have with you”. A saying that was proven twice over
at our first competition evening of the new season on 24th September. The first competition was The Chairman’s Challenge for digital projected images with a theme, set by the outgoing Chairman, of “Urban Landscape”.

There were more than 20 entries and the winner was an outstanding photograph entitled
“City Sights” taken by Marion Wilday on her iPhone during a trip to London. Second place was
claimed by another smartphone photograph, “Rooftop Rain”, taken by Ross Marven on a Moto E5.
Third was “On the P” by Sue Joselyn who used a Pentax camera.

The other competition of the evening was the first round of The Digital Shield, a league
based trophy with three rounds, and here conventional cameras took top places with the winner
being “Hooe Lake Wreck” by Dave Rayner, second was “Windy Post” by Ross Marven and third
“Storm” by Robin Empsall.

All the winning images can be seen in our Gallery under the DPI section.
