PDI Challenge Shield 2016

Tuesday 18th October saw the annual DPI battle between the Ivybridge, Kingsbridge, Newton Abbot and Plymouth Camera Clubs. This year’s event was hosted by Newton Abbot.
Each club submitted twenty images, with a maximum of four images per person, making the competition eighty images overall. The evening started with a run-through of all the entries. There then followed an interval where a lavish spread of food and drink was available. It was thirsty work viewing all these wonderful images - I say “images” and not “photographs” because in this digital age, we can manipulate the photos we take to create some interesting pictures.
On return after the break, a second viewing commenced - this time with judging. Each club supplied a judge, but he/she was not permitted to mark their own club’s entries, with scores awarded from two to five points. This year we had Keith Miller as our judge. It was interesting to note that nobody scored the maximum of fifteen points but a number of images were awarded a five by at least one judge. The highest scoring picture was from Peter Norwood with “Tenerant Migrant Hawker” scored fourteen points. The highest score from Ivybridge was Dave Rayner’s Peregrine Falcon which scored twelve points.

Newton Abbot won this year’s contest by one point from reigning champions Plymouth with Ivybridge third and Kingsbridge fourth.
