Camera club treasurer Keith Mason proved to be no fool
in audio-visual presentations when on April the 1st
he hosted this month’s practical evening at the
Ivybridge & District Camera Club and demonstrated
how to make a slide presentation with an audio backing.
Keith took a series of photographs and showed members
how to prepare them using Photoshop, connect them as
a show and even how to animate them. An audio track
was added and Keith showed how slides could be synchronised
with this. Keith masterly kept the best for last and
the demonstration was completed with a viewing of the
complete show including a dynamic end page.
A week later the
club held its annual Portrait Competition, kindly judged
by Mr Ron Eaton from Plymstock. The number of entries
was low by recent standards, just 28 colour and 13 monochrome
prints but this is quite usual for the Portrait Competition.
However, Ron was in his usual humorous mood and gave
an extensive and witty critique to the entries and made
the evening even more enjoyable by showing some of his
own studio shots.
The Colour Print
section was won by Ivybridge member Neil Doggett with
‘Winter Warmer’ – a swig being enjoyed
by the huntsman. Second place was taken by Alf Couch
from Plymouth while third position was gained by Keith
Mullin from Ivybridge.
The Monochrome section
winning entry was by Keith Mullin with Ann Owens from
Plymouth taking both second and third places.
The next practical
evening will be on May 6th hosted by Colin Wilkins who
will be discussing image sharpening while the meeting
on May 13th will be the second Digital Shield Competition.
Visitors are always welcome
to the club meetings and we meet at Bittaford Community
Hall from 7:30pm normally on the second and fourth Tuesdays
in the month. Our programme, members’ photographs
and much more are all available elsewhere on this website.
