Best of the Year's Photographs Decided

After an efficient and speedy AGM where two further members, Tony Clements and Geoff Brimblecombe, were elected to the committee, Ivybridge & District Camera Club got down to its Best of the Year competition. The winning entries from all the other competitions in the year are re-entered into this event and the Best of Year for each category selected from them. Over 30 members turned out for the evening, a pleasing number both for the AGM and to vote for the winning entries, and well appreciated by those taking part in the competition.

South Brent member, Bob Pike secured the Best of Year Colour Print accolade with his ‘Inquisitive Robin’ photograph. There are no second or third places in this competition and two other photographs in this section, one by Ivybridge member David Rayner and the other by Graham Buckler, also from Ivybridge, were excluded by a second vote.

The Monochrome Best of Year was won by David Rayner with a tall photograph of ‘Corbiere Lighthouse’, while the Best Slide of the Year honour was collected by Ivybridge member Keith Mullin with ‘Fish Eyes’ a wonderful golden image of fish on the fishmongers table.

Announcement of the League Table results and awarding of the cups and trophies won during the year, as well as the Best of Year, will be made at the annual Christmas Dinner and Presentation evening, which will complete the 2006 programme.

Next year’s programme starts on January the 9th with the club’s very first ever digital projection competition, to be called the National Lottery Digital Trophy Competition in recognition of the Awards for All lottery grant that the club gained back in March, which enabled the purchase of the digital projection equipment needed for this.

Visitors are welcome to attend any meeting from 7:30 pm at the Community Hall, Jubilee Terrace, Bittaford. Further information and directions are available elsewhere on this website
