Members
and visitors of Ivybridge & District Camera Club
enjoyed a busy and entertaining couple of events in
the final few days of May.
On Sunday 28th members
turned up for the annual Photo-hunt competition. Starting
at 9am outside Ivybridge Town Hall. Teams in ten cars
and a motorbike left at intervals to take part in solving
26 rhyming clues that took participants on a photographic
hunt around the Devon countryside.
Early-starting members
managed to get diverted by the Plymouth half-marathon,
which made for an interesting re-evaluation of the clues
and resulted in at least one team stopping for an early
tea-break. Many teams made a day out of the whole event,
stopping for lunch and afternoon tea and one team recorded
a stopped time alone of over five hours! Photographs
are still to be handed in to Photo-hunt organiser and
Bard, Keith Mullin and the winning team will be announced
in September. Many thanks are due to Keith for all his
hard work providing a very entertaining day out.
On Tuesday 30th
the club’s first Digital Practical Evening was
well attended by club members but predominantly by those
who are new to digital photography. The equipment was
bought with a grant from the National Lottery who are
keen for community involvement so the club was very
pleased to welcome five visitors to the event and hopes
that even more will come to the next practical evening
on June 20th.
David Rayner and
Colin Wilkins used the club’s new digital projector
and computer to demonstrate how to take and edit digital
photographs. Subjects covered ranged from understanding
how the computer stores colour images to how variations
in the lens settings on a camera affect the depth of
field of the image captured. David & Colin were
pleased to receive questions and feedback from participants
that indicated a good start had been made in addressing
the level of skills people wanted to learn about.
