| A
drop-in open evening for visitors at the Ivybridge &
District Camera Club on Tuesday May the 9th was deemed
a success by club members after four of the visitors
decided to join up there and then.
The event was
staged to extend the club’s profile into the community
and to give a different sort of visitor experience than
normally gained from photographic exhibitions.
Honorary president,
Dorothy Watson and twenty-three club members put the
exhibition together and ‘held the fort’
for the evening, entertaining visitors and providing
teas and coffees. Many thanks are due to all those who
helped make the event a success.
The club’s
new digital projector, recently acquired with the aid
of a lottery grant, was in use all evening and caught
the interest of visitors with a preview slide show of
digital image manipulation techniques that participants
of the forthcoming practical evenings will be learning.
A large display
of members’ photographs was mounted and this lead
to discussions with the visitors on photographic techniques
and personal decisions such as choosing subjects.
Leaflets were
on hand describing the club’s history and how
to join; what the year’s events will be and inviting
visitors to join in with the practical digital courses
due to start at the end of May.
The next meeting
will be held on Tuesday the 23rd May and will be an
Open Merit competition kindly judged by Mr Peter McMullin
DPAGB from Plymouth. The following Tuesday 30th May
will be the first of our Digital Practical Evenings.
Visitors are welcome to attend either or both events
from 7:30 pm at the Community Hall, Jubilee Terrace,
Bittaford. Further information
and directions are available elsewhere on this website.
