Club Outing to Bicton Park

On the 16th July Ivybridge Camera Club members took a day trip out to Bicton Park near Exmouth and felt themselves lucky to see fine weather after two previous ‘summer break’ events had been rained off.

Eight members along with seven wives and friends met at the appointed time in the car park and had a wonderful day either seriously capturing memorable images or just happy snapping and enjoying the day out.

For most of the day the members split into small groups intending to meet again periodically, but so vast was the size of the park that groups only met occasionally - some were lost for the day! The train ride alone took some twenty-five minutes to go around the park and there were plenty of areas the train could not visit such as the fern garden, Italian garden, Palm house and Countryside Museum.

No it's not raining!

One place members could be found was the great lake and fountain at the foot of the Italian garden where a brisk wind occasionally turned the fountain into a magical spray - an ideal photographic subject for one of our competitions later in the year with the theme ‘Light on Water’.

We did all meet up again (well, nearly all anyway) at a pre-arranged time for lunch at the Orangery and the opportunity was taken to capture a group photograph for the club scrapbook.

The next meeting will be held at a new venue, the new Bittaford Hall at 7.30 on Tuesday the 13th September (first right after the 30mph signs from Ivybridge). Visitors and potential new members are always welcome and full details can be found elsewhere on this website.
