Ivybridge Camera Club members are putting on an
exhibition of photographs at South Brent. First indications are that
the exhibition has been well attended with several people subsequently
making telephone contact with the club. The exhibition is open during
all of March in the Corridor Gallery at South Brent Old School Centre.
Opening times are from 10.00am to 5.00pm on Monday and Fridays, 10.00am
to 8.00pm Tuesday through to Thursday and 10.00am to 12.30pm on Saturday.
Entry is free.
At the meeting held on Tuesday 8th March the club welcomed two new members,
Mr John Trussell of Ivybridge and Mr Tony Clements also of Ivybridge.
Both are not exactly 'new faces' as they have been coming as visitors
for a few meetings.
Guest judge for the evening, Mr Graham Whiting from Liskeard gave us
an entertaining time with many humorous comments prompted, in the main,
by the difficult task the club members set him. The subject for the
competition was 'Animal Portraits'. Mr Whiting told members this was
probably the most difficult competition he had judged and said, "Although
one of my particular subjects is portraiture, I certainly have never
awarded first prize to a portrait of an iguana before!"
First place in the Colour print section went to David Rayner of Ivybridge,
with second place going to Keith Mullin, also of Ivybridge. Bernard
Howley of Saltash took third place.
In the Black & White section the top position was won by Bob Pike
of South Brent. David Rayner took second and third place.
David Rayner also took first place in the Slide section, with second
and third places won by club chairman, Keith Miller of Ivybridge.
The next meeting is on Tuesday March 22nd when Mr Ian Foster from Liskeard
will judge an Open Merit competition. Visitors are welcome to attend
and further information plus directions are available on this website.
Sandwiched between now and the next meting is a display of member's
photographs at the Ivybridge Garden Association's spring show. The show
starts at 2.00pm at St John's Church Hall, Ivybridge on Saturday 19th
March.
