Members interpreted the subject, and in some cases, the 'nature' element of the portfolio in a wide variety of ways. A common theme was snow but predictably rain was also featured. Producing (and judging) a viable portfolio is rather tricky in that any one photograph in the portfolio may excel, but it is the panel as a whole that is considered as a harmonious package. In the print section the winning entry from Colin Wilkins of Ivybridge was titled Cornish Coastal Weather with individual prints showing a storm breaking, the storm itself and the tranquillity after the storm. Second place went to Peter Pearce from Bittaford with a portfolio of two 'hard' snow landscapes linked with a central 'snow and barbed wire' soft scene. Third place went to David Rayner of Ivybridge, who's theme was Prevailing Wind and depicted trees in the landscape growing bowed under the influence of coastal winds. In the Slide section Keith Mullin of Ivybridge took first place with a trio entitled Wet Weather Variety. Clive Brown of Ivybridge took second place with snow scenes in wide valleys while Keith Miller, also of Ivybridge took third place with snow again featuring as the 'weather' element of the portfolio. The next meeting is on Tuesday May 10th when
Mr Paul Smith will be giving a presentation of photographic work. As
always, visitors are welcome to attend and further information plus
directions are available elsewhere on this website.
