The second half of Ivybridge Camera
Club's year got underway in a big way on Tuesday 13th
September. It was the club's first meeting to be held
in the new Community Hall at Bittaford, just a mile
and a half from Ivybridge, and was held to be a success
by all. Twenty members turned for the evening out with
a record-breaking entry of over 60 images to be judged.
Six new faces, potentially new members, also joined
us - a good start for the season ahead.
Chairman
Keith Miller noted however, that in contrast to other
photographic clubs in the South West, we have very few
female members and this was particularly noticeable
with such a large turn-out. (see image below)
Judging
was carried out by all the members using voting slips
and while these were being counted David Rayner and
Colin Wilkins appraised some of the photographs in a
session with feedback from the members.
Robin Empsall
from Ivybridge took first place in the Monochrome section
with an atmospheric picture of Venice backwaters. Keith
mason of Ivybridge won second position and third place
went to David Rayner also of Ivybridge.
Clive Brown
of Ivybridge won first place in the Slide section with
a picture of gulls on a flower-covered cliff edge. An
airborne motorcyclist gained second place for Keith
Miller of Ivybridge while third position was attained
with a mountain path scene entered by Colin Wilkins
also from Ivybridge.
John Trussell
of Ivybridge won the Colour Print section with an eye-catching
picture of an owl at a railway station. The image was
entitled Hogwarts Express! Second place went to Bob
Pike of South Brent and a joint third place was announced,
shared between David Rayner and Robin Empsall, both
from Ivybridge.
The next
meeting will be at Bittaford Community Hall from 7.30pm
on Tuesday 27th September and will be the Club's annual
Sport Competition. As always, visitors or potential
members are welcome to attend and further information
plus directions are available elsewhere on this website.
