| Nearly
sixty photographers and friends from three local groups
arrived at Bittaford Community Hall on Tuesday 25th
October for the annual 3-Way Slide Battle between Ivybridge,
Wembury and Kingsbridge Camera Clubs.
Ivybridge were
hosts this year and as well as welcoming Wembury and
Kingsbridge members, were pleased to welcome Mrs Ann
Owens from Liskeard & District Camera Club who kindly
judged the slides for the event.
The hall was
packed and a few even stood at the rear to hear Ann
Owens apply a perceptive appraisal to the sixty slides.
“Such was the high standard of photography,”
she said, “I have had to be particularly hard
with the marking to bring out a difference between slides.”
At half time,
while everybody tucked into a good spread, feverish
computations revealed Ivybridge Camera Club was running
in third place. However by the end of the evening the
results were Kingsbridge in first place with 296 points,
Ivybridge in second place with 272 points and Wembury
third with 264 points.
During the evening,
marks per slide ranged between eight and nineteen, but
no slide was awarded the maximum of twenty points. However,
Ann Owens picked out a number of slides that had each
received nineteen points and from between them, chose
the ‘best of the evening’, a Kingsbridge
slide entitled Miami Reflections.
Thanks were given
to both visiting clubs for a challenging and rewarding
evening, to Ann Owens for such a dedicated assessment
and presentation and to the Ivybridge members and wives
who put on such a good spread.
The next meeting
will be at 7.30 p.m. on Tuesday 8th November at the
new Community Hall, Bittaford and will be the Challenge
from the Chair Competition with the subject ‘Light
on Water’. As always, visitors are welcome to
attend and further information plus directions are available
elsewhere on this club website.
