| For the first meeting of the New Year members of the Ivybridge Camera Club held a Travelogue and Critique evening. Six members brought material for consideration: Eric Foster of Ivybridge showed a panel of six prints of boats for critique and a lively discussion followed. After rearrangement of the panel and even changing of the mount colours, a 'best' arrangement was achieved that satisfied most members. While we were rearranging and studying the pictures it became clear that one image, although excellent in itself, did not perfectly match the set. Members found they could describe exactly the scene that was needed to complete the panel. Peter Pearce of Bittaford displayed a panel of ten Black and White prints depicting Dartmoor scenes for a similar critique by the members. Steve Cleave of South Brent and Keith Mason of Ivybridge each brought along electronically scanned holiday photographs and displayed them by digital projector as brief 'slide' shows. Steve showed us breathtaking views of a mountaineering escapade in the Tatra Mountains of southern Poland and Keith gave members tantalising glimpses of the outstanding photographic opportunities to be had on Burano Island, Venice. Keith Mullin and Colin Wilkins, both from Ivybridge used conventional slides to present their brief travelogues. Keith treated us to the inner workings of a ritual Gurkha ceremony and Colin took us to the Blue Mountains of Australia for an interesting geological expedition. Meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesday
of the month and the next is a Merit Competition on the 25th January
at 7.30pm at St John's Church Hall, Ivybridge.
